Keith Brown MSP

Biography:

Keith is Minister for Schools and Skills.

Keith joined the SNP in 1984 and has held a number of internal posts at local and national level.

In 1996 Keith was elected to Clackmannanshire Council, becoming SNP Group Leader in 1997. In 1999, Keith led the SNP Group to control of the Council and was Leader of Clackmannanshire Council until 2003.

Born in Edinburgh in 1961, Keith joined the Marines in 1980 and served during the re-invasion of the Falkland Islands in 1982. In 1988, Keith graduated MA Honours in Politics from Dundeee University.

He was elected as MSP for Ochil in 2007 and serves as Convener of the Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee within the Scottish Parliament.
